We are the new proud owners of….

31 Dec

When I was back home in KS, I had this strange desire to play Nintendo and wanted to find my old SuperNintendo.  I’m not sure where this desire to play came from….perhaps it’s me digressing to a childlike mentality on vacation.  I don’t know, but Dean loved the idea.  Dean loves video games and was thrilled that I was showing some interest in his passion rather than teasing him about it like I usually do.  In fact, he was so excited about my new desire to play video games with him that he bought a Wii for us.

One of the Super Mario Brothers games we bought allows us to team up and go through the levels together as a team.  I think this game may cause a rift in our relationship, because Dean had no idea just how bad I was and was getting frustrated when I kept messing up : )  Haha.

We played again this morning, and I did a little better : )  In fact, all I’ve done today is play Wii and eat ice cream, because despite getting the flu shot, I came down with the flu.  I feel better (but not good) today, but yesterday was pretty awful.  I was literally fine one second.  Like, I had just gotten done working out.  Then, within a few minutes, I started getting a little chilled, so I crouched down near the fireplace.  Then I passed out–literally.  Like I collapsed and was out for what I can only guess was a half minute or less (Dean was downstairs getting the laundry at this time).  Weirdest feeling ever, because when I started to regain consciousness, I had no idea where I was and what had just happened.  Then I had full-blown rigors for 20-30 minutes.  Have you ever had that?  I never have….like, I’ve been chilled and had my teeth chatter when I was sick as a kid before, but never full blown, uncontrollable, body shaking.  My muscles even started to cramp up from all the contracting.  Poor Dean….I’m sure he was like what is going on when he came back upstairs and saw me shaking in front of the fireplace.  haha!  After sweating what was hopefully all the nasty toxins out of my system last night, I still feel like crap today, but I am in MUCH better state than I was last night, so hopefully this thing will blow over soon.

Not sure if I’m going to be able to participate in much of  New Year’s celebration tonight : (  Our friends are in town and I really want to see them, so I may try to meet everyone out for dinner but then skip the celebratory drinks/house party afterwards and instead go home and go to bed.  New Year’s is overrated anyway, in my opinion.

QUESTIONS

Nintendo/Super Nintendo/Wii fan?  What are/were your favorite games?

Have you been struck down by the flu this year?  It seems like the flu is going around big time right now.  I texted my ER friend last night, because I was a little worried I could have gotten systemically sick from the invasive dental procedure I had done 2.5 days prior, and she said the ER was filled with people with flu symptoms.

New Year’s celebrations:  overrated or fun?  What will you be doing tonight?

Someone else suggested that to me on facebook. I will have to give that a try, although I’m not sure how easy it will be to convince to do that with me : )

Our NYE is going to be low key as well! My husband and I are having my in-laws over for a steak dinner and then heading to our friends’ for a pajama party! It’s going to be perfect-a night with friends and then immediately home to fall asleep in the clothes we were wearing! :)

That sounds perfect. I’d take a NYE celebration in pajamas over all dressed up in a fancy dress!
