My first purchase from an infomercial

1 Jan

You all better hope I get better soon so that I stop doing an excessive amount of blog and facebook posts!  Ha.  Actually, around the clock ibuprofen and tylenol helps a ton.  I went from stumbling around like an old lady this morning to trying to convince Dean to go on a jog with me within 30 minutes of drugging myself up.

Last night while Dean was out at dinner with our friends, I got some good reading (and facebook stalking) done.  I started reading Screwtape Letters as well as some other excerpts from C. S. Lewis.  He is my favorite writer of all time.  He is brilliant, really makes me think, and always leave me saying to myself, “darn it, he’s right.”

A reminder to myself to accept with open arms whatever God has to offer for 2013.

Around 9ish, Dean texted me.  I was trying to convince him to stay out and enjoy himself, but my sweet boy insisted on wanting to spend the New Year’s with me, and so he came home after dinner to spend the evening with his sick, boring fiance.

The most exciting thing we did was play Wii and buy something off of an infomercial.  Yup, you heard me right, I bought something I saw on TV….first time I’ve ever done that.  I’m such a rebel, I know.   Dean and I love tortillas and love salads, and so when we saw this on TV, we couldn’t pass it up:

You simply put whatever type/sized tortilla you want into one of these tortilla molds, bake it, and then you have a tortilla bowl!  No oil or frying….totally healthy.  I’ll be sure to let you know ALL about it when we get it.  I bet you can hardly wait.  If you want one yourself, you can buy it online.

During my facebook stalking last night, I came across this brilliant photo/ecard on my friend’s profile:

Ha.  Love it.

My blog has hit over 120,000 hits, was is pretty cool for me.  That’s probably how many hits some of the big bloggers get in one day, but it is a lot for me.   At the end of the year, WordPress produces an annual report for you, showing what your most popular posts were, where most of your viewers came from (I don’t know which individuals view my blog, but I can see how many hits were via facebook vs. google vs. some other source).  Most of my referrers are from facebook.

For those who stumble across your blog randomly, WordPress shows what the most popular google search phrases were that lead to your blog.

Here were mine:

Thanks, WordPress.  I am so honored to know that.

And finally, I’ll end this random post with a picture of the Chicago skyline taken from my apartment this morning:

Happy New Year!! I hope you’re feeling better soon! That taco tortilla maker thing (?) looks awesome- let us know how it works, now I want one :)

So I’ve taken 2 very useful things from your post today. 1) that CS Lewis quote is beautiful and so true; and 2) I need to post about tumours with teeth and poop a little more to boost page views :-D

    Hi Julia!
I saw the same infomercial this weekend on the Tortilla bowl. I was wondering have you guys tried it out yet? It comes with an idea/recipe book?
