Workouts: None over the past few days.
I started noticing a little weight-bearing groin pain the other day after my run. Wasn’t sharp…more dull, but it was there, and I don’t mess with groin pain. If I feel anything in my groin, I stop running, because hip/proximal femur pain manifests as groin pain.
2.5 years ago, I noticed the same thing in right hip after increasing my mileage sharply. I ignored it and kept running until the dull pain became a sharp pain radiating down my inner leg with each step of my run. An MRI showed some mild bone edema in the femur….a stress “reaction”. Had I kept running, it probably would have progressed to an actual stress fracture. Femoral stress fractures are no joke. They are serious. Much more serious than a stress fracture in the tibia (shins) or foot. I had to take 6 weeks off of running….would have been several months if it had actually been a fracture.
I noticed the same very dull pain when I increased my mileage prior to my last marathon (CIM). I essentially took a week off of running and it was gone, and so I am doing the same thing now….just taking it easy for a few days/week to be extra cautious.
My point? Don’t try to be a bad ass by running through certain types of pain…you’re not tough, you’re stupid! Any weight-bearing pain is a serious red flag. I.e., if your hamstrings hurt when you stretch it…that’s not bone pain, that’s ligamentous/muscle pain. However, if your shins or groin or whatever hurts only when you stand, push off, or land on the affected leg…that screams bone pain. Ease up or stop running. End of discussion.

Have you any of you been watching Bachelor?? Thoughts? What do you think of Sean?
We caught up on the latest episode last night with some friends (although I still haven’t seen Monday’s).
- Sean: I actually like him and think he’s a good guy…perhaps a little boring, which I guess is not a reality tv star quality but probably a good thing in real life. I like “his” (ABC’s) dates….very outdoorsy.
- Ashlee: My favorite. She seems so sweet and loving.
- Desiree: LIked her at first, but not so sure anymore. Seems kind of catty. I heard she was annoying in Monday’s episode.
- Lesley: Like her a lot. She’s grown on me since the beginning. She actually seems fairly intelligent.
- Lindsay: I don’t know how she is still on here. I mean, she’s really sweet, but I doubt her IQ is above 10. She and Sean do seem to have chemistry, through. I would’ve pictured Sean liking someone way more mature than this girl, but maybe he likes feeling in charge and getting to take care of someone??
- Sarah: sweet girl…how could you not feel bad for her when she left? But I don’t believe in handing out sympathy cards to people. I thought she kind of had a bland personality, and I respect Sean for letting her go the way he did.
- Selma: I wanted to dislike her, cause she seemed a little too…girlie? But for whatever reason, I actually ended up liking her. Also, I was really impressed the way she rock climbed on that one date she had with Sean!
- Tierra: Oh Tierra, the villain of this season’s show. Such a little drama queen. Oh,and her eye makeup sorta scares me.
- Catherine: Seems sweet. I don’t like or dislike her. Feel like they haven’t shown much of her. Maybe that’s a good thing? Staying out of the drama?
What are your opinions on the girls? By the way, was anyone impressed how none of the girls’ makeup got messed up (except Tierra who looked a mess) after jumping in the water?

How often do y’all do laundry?? I have to do it every week, but Dean goes weeks without doing laundry until this happens:
Dean’s bag of laundry looked bigger in person…the picture doesn’t give it justice. That was four loads of just his clothes….can’t wait until we have kids one day…we’ll probably be doing 12 loads at a time. Ughhh.

Be careful! I hope an easy week makes all the difference and you’re back to running soon!
I have to do my laundry every week too but Ian goes awhile between loads. It must be a male thing…
