Workout: 6 mile am run on the TM
Today was one of those days where I was actually planning on running outside, but then when I woke up, saw how dark and chilly it was outside (it actually wasn’t THAT chilly, but somehow any temperature below 70 seems cold at 4:20 in the morning), I decided the TM was the way to go. Plus, I REALLY wanted to see the next 24 episode.
The run went well…nothing challenging, but I started to have doubts about CIM afterwards. I was on such a high Saturday after my run, but as I came down from that high and started to try to think rational about it, my argument for doing it was a lot weaker than the argument against it:
My argument to run it:
-use it as a training run and only run part of it if I have to.
-go to wine country with Dean
The argument to not run it:
-might be too much too soon…better to slowly work back in the miles so as to not re-aggravate the ankle
-my sister can’t make it to the marathon. She and her friend Richard are a huge reason I love this marathon so much. Nothing like getting to combine running with seeing family and visiting a location you love, but since she’s not going to be there…
-Dean was/is still a little hesitant about asking for time off
-sure, I could turn it into a training run, but that would sure be a mighty expensive training run and a sacrifice on Dean’s part to take time off work to support me.
You see, I really couldn’t find any good argument for running it other than my sentimental feelings about the race and my selfish desire to turn it into a vacation, so this morning my rational mind shut up my dreaming mind, and I made the decision not to sign up for it. Bummer : (
I still have a newly rekindled desire to workout and train hard with purpose, though, so I’m going to continue the more intense cross training workouts with running and hold off on pushing the running mileage up too much too soon. Hopefully this achilles will heal appropriately, and I’ll be strong and ready to train for the LA Marathon I signed up for in March (assuming this achilles heals, I want to make this my PR attempt marathon).
